Kajian taburan mikronutrien di dalam air ]aut Selat Melaka, melibatkan 24 stesen kajian iaitu dari Pulau Langkawi ke Johor. Ia telah dijalankan sebanyak tiga siri penyampelan.
A comparative study on the zooxanthellae characteristics of 5 reef-building corals species off Terengganu was carried out from June until September 1999. The results showed that zooxanthellae density and photosynthetic pigment concentration in mg.cm-2 were higher for corals in deeper water compared to those in shallow water.
Since the 16th August 1998, an average of 115,000 gallons per day of fresh water was supplied to Redang Island from the Setiu River in mainland Terengganu. This study showed that this imported of fresh water had minimal impact on the coral reefs near Redang Estuary to date but changes in the water quality of the estuary, especially at Teluk Pandan (S4), were detected.
A study on the distribution and habitat types of sea urchins at Bidong Island was conducted from June to September 1999. Four species of sea urchins were identified in this study. The species were Diadema setosum, D. savignyi, Echinothrix calamaris and Echinometra mathaei. There are five varieties of E. calamaris.
Kajian terhadap kesan pasang surut kepada penembusan cahaya di muara Sungai Terengganu telah dijalankan. Kajian ini melibatkan kedua-dua musim monsun Barat Daya dan Timur Laut. Dalam kajian ini, data dikutip antara bulan Mei hingga bulan Disember 1999.
Kajian ini adalah merupakan rawatan terbadap Permintaan Oksigen Biokimia (BODs) dan Jumlah Pepejal Terampai (TSS) di dalam air sisa domestik dengan mengguna.kan Sawi Bunga (Brassica Chinensis var parachinensis) dan media sebagai penuras 'reed bed'.
The growth and survival of corals transplanted to different depths were monitored in this study. Results obtained showed that corals from deep water rarely survive transplantation to shallow water with growth and recovery rates diminishing with increasing change in depth.
Nap C, an oil-oxidizing bacterium was isolated from sediment of Port Dickson coastal water. It is a gram-negative bacterium and form spore under unfavourable conditions. The optimum environmental conditions for the growth of Nap C on phenanthrene were pH 8, salinity 30 g/1 and temperature 30 oc. Besides, 40 mg/1 of yeast extract was required for Nap C to grow on phenanthrene in the synthetic medium. Growth supported by addition of 40 mg/1 yeast extract was insignificant (P>0.05).
